The Danish design studio Foersom & Hiort-Lorenzen designed Mat after years of development. "Mat" stands for "Materials": The hemp shell is created using a specially developed compression process. The collection is also available with hemp and seagrass. According to the manufacturer, these materials have a lower environmental impact than industry standards. The frame is made of FSC™-certified (FSC-C163461) beech plywood, and the legs are made of cream-colored beechwood. Mat is designed for disassembly and recycling, meaning the components can be reused in new productions.
Seat height 75 cm – fits counters and bar tables approximately 110 cm high. The armrests provide support during breakfast or aperitifs, and the footrest relieves leg strain. Weighing only 8.5 kg, the chair is easy to move.
You can choose from 7 options: Beige, as well as the fabrics Hallingdal 110, Remix 133 and Ultra 41599. For lower counters, there is the Mat bar stool with armrests, 65 cm, fully upholstered, beechwood/cream. You can find more pieces in the Mat Collection: Scandinavian design for your home.
Mat is equally at home in restaurants, educational institutions, and hotel lobbies. Place two or three chairs with the same upholstery next to each other at the kitchen island. The cream-colored beechwood legs create a calm and harmonious look against light wood fronts and natural tones.
Die Mat-Chair-Kollektion umfasst eine Hanfschale, die in einem eigens entwickelten Kompressionsverfahren gefertigt wird. Das Gestell von Mat Chair besteht aus FSC™ zertifiziertem (FSC-C163461) Buchensperrholz und Buchensperrholz aus anderen kontrollierten Quellen oder aus pulverbeschichtetem Stahl in den zwei Farboptionen Cream oder Black. Die Barversionen mit Holzgestell verfügen über einen Fussring aus pulverbeschichtetem Stahl für zusätzlichen Komfort und Stabilität. Die Schale wird aus einer einzigartigen Mischung aus 75% Hanffasern gefertigt, während die restlichen 25% aus einem eigens entwickelten, recycelbaren Bico-Bindemittel bestehen. Die Seaweed-Variante besteht aus 69% Hanffasern, 6% Seegras (Seaweed) und 25% Bindemittel. Bei Rückgabe an Normann Copenhagen am Ende ihrer Lebensdauer können sowohl Schale als auch Gestell recycelt werden.
